Mosaic Foods Meals Review

Mosaic Foods frozen meals are not your parents’ microwave dinners (or lunches, or breakfast!)!  You can taste the difference in the quality of fresh ingredients and the use of unique spices to add flavor to the dishes versus using artificial chemicals and fat like most old-school TV dinners.

But like the TV dinners of years past, Mosaic Foods meals are stored in the freezer, cutting down on food spoilage and waste while preserving nutrients, and easily heated in the microwave in around 5-8 minutes (single-serve meals) or 60 min in the oven (for family meals)SHOP NOW>>

We’ve tried several Mosaic Veggie Bowls and dish on all of them below!

Mosaic Foods Review: Veggie Bowls

Yellow Dal Curry: Favorite! Wow!  This meal packs a spicy yellow curry punch of flavor.  The wonderful smell of the savory garam masala and ginger filled my kitchen even before I pulled it from the microwave.

Green Curry Noodles: Favorite! We loved the creamy curry flavor of the Green Curry Noodles with a little kick of spice alongside the sweet potatoes and asparagus.

Peanut Tofu Bowl: Favorite! This bowl packed the peanut punch you would expect from a meal with peanut sauce, but unlike grocery store frozen meals, this tasted better, and healthier. The quality of the ingredients really came through, like in the grilled pineapple, and it somehow tasted fresh even though it was frozen.

Chipotle Mango Burrito Bowl: Favorite! This burrito bowl combined cilantro Spanish rice with smokey roasted sweet potatoes, zesty jalapeno for a little heat, yellow corn, savory black beans, roasted red peppers, and onions with a chipotle-mango dressing for a healthy and tasty burrito bowl. Delish!  SHOP NOW>>

Jerk Lentil & Plantain Bowl:  Favorite! This bowl combines fiber-packed green lentils seasoned with Caribbean jerk spices with tomatoes, Swiss chard, peppers, and sweet ripe plantains in this bowl that will tingle your tastebuds.  Yum!

Tangy Thai Stir Fry: This one was a little too sour for me, but my husband loved the flavor.

Spicy Sichuan Soba: This meal tasted healthy and fresh like the others, but with a spicy flair that tingles your tastebuds (literally!).

Creamy Pesto Cavatappi:  This bowl had a delicious creamy sauce with perfectly cooked pasta, bright tomatoes, and cheese.  The spinach was too bitter for me, so I ate around it.  Overall, it was a really tasty bowl I just wish that the spinach wasn’t so bitter or that they could swap it out with another vegetable.  SHOP NOW>>

I am a huge fan of eating oatmeal for breakfast, and sometimes lunch!

I usually pack my oatmeal with fresh berries and nuts and a touch of cinnamon.

I naturally lean toward the sweeter oat bowls and was excited to see that Mosaic added savory oat bowls to their new breakfast menu.. SHOP NOW>>

For our second Mosaic Foods review, we tried all six oat bowls (3 sweet and 3 savories)!

Savory Mosaic Foods Oat Bowls

Veggie Sausage & Gouda Oat Bowl: FAVORITE! Our favorite savory oat bowl of the three we tried.  We loved the little-sweetened apple sausage and creamy smoked gouda.  I ate this bowl for lunch and it kept me going till dinner.  Yum!

Shiitake Ginger Oat Bowl: This is the only bowl that contains eggs.  It had a rich umami flavor with strong notes of ginger with a hint of chili oil for a kick of spice.

Sundried Tomato & ‘Everything’ Oat Bowl: The ‘Everything’ spice was the star of this bowl with garlic and onion flavors dominating this hearty breakfast bowl. I actually liked this bowl and thought that it would pair well with some eggs.  SHOP NOW>>

Sweet Mosaic Foods Oat Bowls

Peanut Butter, Banana & Cacao Oat Bowl:  This sweet bowl is packed with a rich peanut butter taste with hints of banana and cacao alongside crunchy hazelnuts.  And it wasn’t overly sweet.

Golden Milk & Blackberry Oat Bowl: This bowl had strong turmeric (think earthy-sweet) and cardamon (spicy-minty) flavors and you can smell the almonds when you take it out of the microwave.  I just wish it had more blackberries.  If you like turmeric and cardamon this is the bowl for you!

Cranberry & Cinnamon Oat Bowl: FAVORITE! Packed with oats and quinoa along with sweet and tart cranberries and warm cinnamon with whole walnuts for crunch and texture.  Perfect for a crisp fall morning!

TIP:  Be sure to follow the heating instructions on the container as heating times will vary.  And be sure to stir!

Mosaic Foods Meal Review: Soups

For our next Mosaic review, we received a sample of their soups including Curried Lentil Soup, Ginger, Quinoa, & Veggie Soup, Miso Soba Noodle Soup, Pozole Verde, Roasted Garlic Cauliflower Soup, and Tomato, Rosemary, & White Bean Soup.

Mosaic Foods Review: Soup

Tomato, Rosemary, & White Bean Soup: FAVORITE! This soup is nothing like the tomato soup from a can.  This tomato soup is elevated by rosemary and includes hearty white beans.  We ate this with a classic grilled cheese for dinner and it was delish!

Pozole Verde: FAVORITE! We had the Pozole Verde for lunch with some tortilla chips and it was wonderful!  It’s like a bright green salsa with beans.  My husband added some tobacco for heat, but I found it very flavorful and not too spicy.  I would gladly eat this soup for lunch or serve it with a Taco Tuesday dinner as a starter.

Curried Lentil Soup: FAVORITE! This soup is like a warm curry hug packed with hearty (and filling) lentils and wonderful curry spices with creamy coconut milk.  SHOP NOW>>

mosaic-miso-soba-soup- mosaic foods service reviews - mealfinds

Miso Soba Noodle Soup.  This umami-packed soup is filled with shitake mushrooms, buckwheat soba noodles, tofu, bok choy, and a hint of ginger and spice in a miso broth.  It was ok, but not a favorite.

Ginger, Quinoa, & Veggie Soup: If you like the taste of ginger you will love this soup.  Plus, it’s packed with sweet potatoes, chickpeas, and spinach to help you reach your veggie quota for the day.  I just don’t love ginger 🙁

Roasted Garlic Cauliflower was probably my least favorite.  While it was very flavorful and had a lovely creamy texture, I don’t really care for either roasted garlic or cauliflower.  But if you like those flavors, you will really like this healthy soup.

SOUP TIP:  Follow the instructions.  Microwave for 5 min and then stir (this is important).  Then microwave for 2-4 min more and stir to mix everything together and to be sure that the soup is heated through.

Mosaic Foods Meal Review: Family Meals

Mosaic’s family meals, like their other meals, are loaded with veggies and 100% plant-based ingredients and contain no added sugar or artificial ingredients.

Family Meals are $19.95/each and serve 4.

Each 2lb+ family meal includes four servings, is packed with at least 4 vegetables, and no prep is required.

For our fourth Mosaic review, we received a sample of their new family meals including Italian ‘Sausage’ & Pumpkin Lasagna, Enchilada Verde Bake, Thai Peanut Curry, and Sweet Potato Chili Bake. SHOP NOW>>

Mosaic Foods Review: Family Meals

Sweet Potato Chili Bake: FAVORITE! We loved the “biscuit-like” crust on top of this chili bake.  It was made of corn and added a nice crunch to the dish.  The chili tasted fresh and was packed full of vegetables.  We did add a little salt and pepper and my husband added hot sauce to spice the dish up a bit.

Thai Peanut Curry: FAVORITE! We loved the sweet and savory peanut sauce in this meal as it really packed in a lot of warm curry flavors.  And combined with tofu, potatoes, and white rice it was an easy weeknight meal before my son’s lacrosse practice.

Enchilada Verde Bake:  This meal was very tasty and could easily be used as a dip for tortilla chips or a family meal for 4.  I did have to cover the top with foil at about 50 minutes as it was getting a little too brown.

Italian ‘Sausage’ & Pumpkin Lasagna: This lasagna is filled with a pumpkin, cheese, and sage filling with vegan Italian sausage crumbles, and lots of veggies.  This meal was our least favorite as it was very rich and we were craving a red sauce traditionally found in lasagna.  SHOP NOW>>

enchilada verde family meal-mosaic foods review-mealfinds

Overall, these family meals were healthy, packed with veggies, and easy to make.  With no prep and very little clean up they are perfect for a busy weeknight or a lazy Sunday evening.

For our family of three, they were a perfect size as my husband usually eats 2 portions.  If you have four adults or big eaters you may need to add a salad or bread to make it filling for the whole family.

And at less than $5 per serving, the Mosaic Foods family meals are a great value for the quality you are receiving.  We say order 5 meals to get free shipping and keep them in the freezer for an easy, no-prep dinner.  SHOP NOW>>

FAMILY MEAL TIP:  Watch the top of your family meal as it may burn.  We recommend covering it with foil if it gets too dark before the cooking time is up.
