HelloFresh CA Meals Review: Pan-Fried Salmon with Soy-Glazed Bok Choy

hellofresh-ca-salmon-meal-kit-ingredients

The Pan-Fried Salmon with Soy-Glazed Bok Choy with Sriracha Mayo and Ginger-Infused Jasmine Rice was the first meal we prepared, and we have to say, it set the bar high.  The meal was very easy to make and came together in under 30 minutes.  Any time we can get dinner on the table in a hurry, it’s a win.

We started out sautéing some ginger and green onions and then adding the jasmine rice.  The rice simmered away while we got on with the rest of the meal.

Next, we pan-fried the salmon in a non-stick skillet.  The salmon fillets cooked very quickly and developed a nice golden sear on both sides.

Setting the salmon aside, we chopped the bok choy and added it to the non-stick skillet.  We then sautéed the bok choy in the soy sauce-mirin blend, garlic, honey, and ginger glaze for a few minutes. Shop Now >>

To serve, we piled the rice into a bowl and added the glazed bok choy and salmon.  The salmon was topped off with a drizzle of the sriracha mayonnaise.

This dish was full of flavour and textures!  It was well seasoned and the two portions were small, but enough for two people.  The ginger rice also made the house smell heavenly.

Overall, this meal was perfect.  The ingredients were fresh, it was packed with flavour, and it was very easy to make.  Our only regret is that we didn’t order more of this meal!  Shop Now >>

HelloFresh CA Meals Review: Indian Turkey Curry

hellofresh-ca-indian-currey-ingredients

We are big fans of Indian curry and this dish did not disappoint!  It was quick to prepare and bursting with Indian spice flavour.  The dish was mild and creamy, thanks to the addition of coconut milk.

This turkey curry recipe was a bit more complicated to prepare than the other recipes in the box.  The instructions required us to carry out some steps almost simultaneously, so a thorough read-through of the recipe before you prepare it is a good idea!  That being said, the whole meal came together successfully in 30 minutes.

First, we chopped up a sweet potato and roasted it in a hot oven.  While the potato was roasting, we put the rice on to boil and chopped up the onion, tomatoes, and ginger.

Next, we seasoned the turkey scallopine with the Indian spice mix and salt and pepper then pan-seared it for a couple of minutes per side.  We then popped the turkey in the oven alongside the sweet potato to continue roasting.

While the turkey and potatoes finished cooking, we sautéed the tomato and onion along with the remainder of the Indian spice mix.  We finished the curry off by adding coconut milk, soy sauce, and some water.  The curry blipped away over medium-low heat for a few minutes until slightly thickened.  Shop Now >>

The final stage was adding the sweet potato to the curry and a bit of butter to the rice.  We served the curry and rice in a big bowl topped with the sliced golden-hued turkey breast.

The curry was silky and seasoned perfectly and the turkey was very moist.  The portions were very big and could easily have been shared between 3 people.

Overall, we enjoyed the Indian Turkey Curry.  It had a nice mild flavour and was very filling. Who needs takeout when you can make this amazing meal at home? Shop Now >>

HelloFresh Meals Review: BBQ Rubbed Chicken

hellofresh-ca-bbq-chicken-ingredients

The BBQ Rubbed Chicken with Roasted Veggie Salad is a great meal for lunch or a light dinner.  The smoky-sweet taste of the chicken pairs really well with the bright and vibrant taste of the salad.  This meal was also very simple to prepare.

We began by roasting the butternut squash and onion in a very hot oven.  As the veggies were roasting, we rubbed BBQ seasoning onto the boneless chicken legs and seared them in a non-stick pan for a few minutes per side.  We then placed them into the oven with the veggies to continue baking while we prepared the salad dressing and toppings.

The simple, yet classic, dressing for the salad was just balsamic vinegar, sugar, water, and olive oil.  We also made a creamy mayo and dill sauce to go alongside our chicken.

The salad assembly was quick and easy.  We dressed the spinach leaves and topped them with the roasted veggies.  The entire salad was then crowned off with the BBQ chicken, the creamy dill sauce, and toasted pepitas. Shop Now >>

The chicken was incredibly tender and moist, and the seasoning was deliciously sweet and smoky.  The roasted veggies also added a sweetness to the salad that was perfectly offset by the tangy balsamic dressing.

Overall, this salad made a great option for lunch.  The portions were a bit on the small side, so if you’re making this for dinner, you might want to add a bit more spinach or other lettuce of your choosing.  You could also easily make this recipe ahead and dress the spinach leaves once you’re ready to eat.
