Yumble Kids Meals Reviews

We were super excited to try Yumble as we have been looking for healthy, prepared kids meals for our son to eat for lunch and before sports practices when we are crunched for time.

Yumble meals are for children of all ages, but they find that kids ages 3 to 8 years are the “sweet spot”.

Yumble Unboxing Video - Yumble-Kids-Reviews-MealFinds

Our Yumble kid’s meals arrived fresh and as we unpacked them and put them in the fridge I noticed how fresh they looked, especially the green beans and broccoli.

Meals should be enjoyed within 7 days and Yumble does not recommend freezing their meals, so keep this in mind when ordering.

The Yumble box is made entirely from recycled paper fibers and is fully recyclable.  In addition, the trays are made from #5 plastic and can be recycled with normal curbside recycling along with the paper sleeves on the meals.

The gel packs and plastic film have to be thrown in the trash, but they are working on more environmentally friendly alternatives.

For our Yumble kid’s meals reviews, we ordered the

Classic Cheese Ravioli, Yumble Up! Ravioli, Chick N Casserole, Yumble Up!  Mozzarella Chicken Marinara, Yumble Up!  Chicken Meatball Casserole, Pizza Pocket & Broccoli Parm, Baked Taco Pocket, Mac N’Cheese & Nuggets Please, Chicken Marinara & Alfredo, Chicken Chili Wheat Wrap, Orange-You-Glad? Chicken Bowl, Best Start Breakfast Burrito, Bowl of Yays, Bacon Scramble Breakfast Bowl, Coco Snack Poppers, and French Toast & Frittata Breakfast.

Meals are super easy to heat up in the microwave and my son preferred them warm vs cold, but either is an option.  The recommended warming time in the microwave is between 45 sec and 2 min.

We found that the lowest recommend time worked best for us, but it totally depends on the strength of your microwave.  We recommend starting at the lowest time and then adding more time if needed.

Our son ate Yumble meals for breakfast and lunch.  He really enjoyed the taste and the fact that he could make them himself in the microwave.  We loved that the meals are packed with healthy ingredients and found them to be extremely convenient (especially while we are working and schooling from home).

Our son’s lunch favorites were the ravioli, the pizza pocket, pasta with meat sauce, and the chicken chili wrap.

And while he really liked the chicken nuggets and the chicken marinara, he did not like the mac and cheese or the alfredo.  Both are made with a cauliflower cheese sauce, which I didn’t tell him about, and he wanted them to be cheesier.

I thought they both tasted more like an alfredo and really enjoyed the taste.

Our son’s favorite breakfast meals, some of which he ate for lunch, included the Best Start Breakfast Burrito, Bacon Scramble Breakfast Bowl, and the French Toast & Veggie Frittata.

These meals were all around 4.5-5oz and were convenient as a quick, healthy breakfast.

We also tried the Coco Snack Poppers.  These were very filling and tasted great.  They weren’t too sweet and had a nice chocolate, coconut, and oat taste.  I only wish that they came in a resealable container as there is no way you could eat 4 at a time.

The snack poppers are the same price as a meal and make for a great snack all week long.

How do Classic Yumble Meals compare to the new Yumble Up! Meals?

The portion size, which varied from 4.25 oz to 8 oz, was perfect-to-small for breakfast and lunch for our son (9 to 11 during these reviews).  This size would be small for dinner, though.

We are super excited!  Yumble now has larger portions for big kids, age 8+! They call these meals Yumble Up! and they are 8+oz each.

Most Classic Yumble meals are around 5 oz to 6 oz.  Yumble Up! meals are 8 oz.  You can see the difference in the pictures above.

Right now, Yumble Up! meals are the same price as the Classic meals and we say stock up and get more bang for your buck!

Yumble offers 30+ meal choices per week with the menu rotating about every 6-8 weeks.

Yumble Kids Meals Reviews: Bottom Line

Yumble delivers balanced prepared kid’s meals directly to your door.  Each recipe is developed with children’s tastes and nutritional needs in mind and meals are created with sustainable, regionally sourced ingredients.

Two thumbs up for Yumble kid’s meals!  Our son found them easy to make in the microwave in less than 3 minutes and were a really tasty lunch option while remote learning.  As a mom, I love that he is eating nutritionally balanced lunches made with quality ingredients.  I also love the number of menu options every week.

At the time of our reviews, Yumble only had one portion size which was small for our 9 to 11-year-old, but they now have Yumble Up! meals that are made for kids 8+ with larger portions.  The Yumble Up! meals were a good size for lunch for our son but would be small for dinner.

I would also love to be able to freeze Yumble meals so that we can buy more and save without worrying about meals going to waste if we don’t eat them during the week.  And while Yumble doesn’t ship to the entire US yet, they are working on it.

Compared to other kids prepared meal services, the cost of Yumble is in the middle of the price range at $6.99 – $9.99 per meal.

Overall, Yumble kid’s meals are a convenient, healthy option for busy parents.  Yumble kids meals would be great for parents who don’t have time to cook, but want a healthy easy-to-prepare meal for their child, parents with picky children, and great for grandparents or caregivers who are watching kids during the day.

Enjoy!
