Wine Awesomeness can truly be described as an online version of a fun, friendly, neighborhood wine shop; a place where the staff genuinely want to share the stories behind the bottles and make the process of helping you discover delicious, interesting wines from around the world an adventure.
You can purchase Wine Awesomeness wines a la carte via their wine shop, by subscribing to their membership to discover new wines each month, or by surprising someone with a monthly wine delivery through their gift subscription options.
Nose: Woody, earthy, mossy, yet the first initial whiff brought forth smells of synthetic chemical and tar for some
Taste: Berry jam, spicy
Overall Impression: Mixed reviews on this one. Some of us really enjoyed it and thought it would be an excellent wine to sip around a campfire in the summer… for others, it left them with an unpleasant burning sensation on their tongue and had a lackluster finish.
Nose: sweet, black cardamom tea, dark cherries, cranberries, smokey
Taste: Battery acid (but not in a bad way), peppery, tangy berry jam, pomegranate
Overall Impression: Our tasting team had a lot of positive things to say about this vino. And all agreed it’s wonderful with sharp cheese and chocolate (milk and caramel) and would be excellent with a rich, smokey BBQ.
Nose: Kerosine, oaky, woody, mossy, violets, worms in soil, a bit of a porta-potty smell at first, dry, dead flowers, spicy
Taste: Better than it smells. Cloves, black cherry, robust and mouth-filling
Overall Impression: Not sure if it’s because we saved this one for last but our group of tasters had some lively conversations about this one! Most agreed that it had the most character, biggest flavors, and was the most interesting and complex. One of my favorite descriptions was “classy lumberjack.”
Wine Awesomeness has a feature called the “Wine Cellar” to provide customers with an interactive experience. You can rate and write notes about the wines you purchase, see what other customers have to say about the wines, get recipe pairings, and more. We love this feature as it’s super helpful to keep track of wines you love (and those you don’t) so that you can order them again or send as gifts.
The Wine Awesomeness team, made up of self-proclaimed wine nerds, hunt for new, different, and “cool” wines crafted by winemakers all around the world. They then curate their finds for members to create a unique wine experience.
Wine Awesomeness membership options:
3-bottle membership (receive three bottles per shipment – red, white, or variety)
6-bottle memberships (receive six bottles per shipment – red, white, or variety)
Each membership shipment includes a hard copy of thebacklabel*: a mini-magazine containing wine-related content, recipes, playlists, and articles to help you learn all about the vino you’ve received.
Once you start a membership, you are automatically subscribed to monthly shipments. However, you can switch your frequency to every two or three months through your account; you also have the option to skip your upcoming order or adjust your order date.
How much does the Wine Awesomeness Membership Cost?
All-in, each Wine Awesomeness’ Monthly Journey costs $49/box for their three-pack option and $79/box for their six-pack option. Also, you can order additional bottles from their wine list anytime (members can get 20% off).
Want to give a gift that keeps on giving? Wine Awesomeness offers four options:
Gift Subscription: Starting at $59, membership gifting options include monthly delivery of a curated wine journey for 1, 3, 6, or 12 months.
Curated Gift Boxes: Curated gift boxes of wine in 3, 4, 6, or 12 bottle packs starting at $49.
eGift Card: For those you know who enjoy wine but you’re not sure what wine really interests or excites them, Wine Awesomeness’ eGift option is, well, awesome. Their eGift lets them choose a curated membership or pick out their favorite bottles.
Corporate Gifts: Send gift boxes, gift subscriptions, or e-gift cards to your clients or employees.
Wine Awesomeness is a great wine club option for curious connoisseurs and entry-level ingenues alike. Their approach to bringing good-tasting wine to the fore in a non-intimidating way is truly clever and captivating. What’s more is that their team clearly values and appreciates wine — where it comes from, who makes it, how it tastes — and sharing that journey with you.
