Our Large Classic box was filled with 27 items including 5 savory snacks, 16 sweet snacks, and 6 drinks.
UrthBox Healthy Snack Review: Savory Snacks
In our UrthBox box, we received 5 savory snacks including Bamba Peanut Butter Puffs (2.5 oz), Sweet Chaos White Cheddar Popcorn (1.5 oz), Hen of the Woods Chile Con Queso Chips (2 oz), One Potato Two Potato Root Veggie Chips (1oz), and Every Body Eat Cheese-less Crackers (1.1 oz).
All of these savory snacks had a healthy twist with some healthier than others. We loved the Chile Con Queso potato chips as well as the White Cheddar Popcorn. Both made with natural, non-GMO ingredients and tasted amazing. I would definitely buy both of these again.
We were really excited to try the Bamba Peanut Butter Puffs as they looked just like cheese puffs but made with peanut butter. Unfortunately, they didn’t taste much like peanut butter at all. Get $10 OFF + Free Box with code URTHBOX10 >>
UrthBox Healthy Snack Review: Sweet Snacks
The majority of snacks in this box were on the sweet side. In our box we received, 2- 3oz bags of Choc Zero White Cholocate Peanut Butter Cups, Ginger Chews (4 oz), 2- 1.23oz KIND Fruit Bars, Go Go Big Squeeze (4.2 oz), Sunsweet Ones (6oz), 2- .88oz Maverick Chocolate Chip Cookies, 2-1oz Seely Mint Patties, 2-1.8oz Over Easy Breakfast Bars, 2 Nature’s Path Grain Free Hot Cereal Packs, and 1 Zolli Gummeez Clean Teeth Candy (3oz).
There was a lot to love about these sweet snacks and a lot of snacks to try. I invited my son and one of his friends over to do a little taste-testing and they both loved the Go Go Big Squeeze, the Maverick Chocolate Chip Cookies, and the Zolli Gummeez Clean Teeth Candy. They thought the clean teeth candy was brilliant and wanted to replace brushing with the candy, haha.
I personally enjoyed the Seely Mint Patties as a healthier alternative with less sugar than the York patty. My husband, who is a huge ginger-lover, really enjoyed the ginger chews but warned that you must really like ginger to enjoy them.
Our UrthBox also included several drinks and drink mixes. We received 1 Rise Nitro Cold Brew (7oz), a 12oz can of Dry Botanical Bubbly, 3 Electrolyte Hydration Mixes by Ultima Replenisher, a Tru Nut Peanut Butter Plant Protein Powder mix (0.63oz), and a Party Detox mix by Herbal Zap.
The Rise Nitro Cold Brew came with a coupon for a free can in-store, which was a nice surprise as we really enjoyed this cold brew and would gladly try another flavor. I liked the Dry Botanical Bubbly as well, though didn’t love that it had sugar.
UrthBox says that some boxes have a $100 value and we assume that these are the large boxes, like the one we received. The price of a large box is between $49.99-$57.99 depending on the plan that you select. Get $10 OFF + Free Box with code URTHBOX10 >>
We did a rough tally of the 27 items in our box and found a couple of things.
First, some items can’t be purchased in a quantity of 1, so you would have to buy 3 or 4 of something to try it out.
Second, some of the items we couldn’t find in our local grocery store and would need to be ordered online. This means that you would also have to order in larger quantities but may also have to pay tax and shipping if you wanted to try something.
Finally, most items in our box were in the $1-$3 price range, with a couple of items in the $4-$6 price range.
Based on our calculations, not including tax or shipping if we had to buy these in-store or order online, and assuming that we could purchase these items in smaller quantities of 1 or 2, the items in the box are worth around $55-$60, about the same price of the box.
The beauty of this box is that you get to discover new healthy food and drink items every month in quantities that are perfect for trying and not wasteful if you don’t like something. Get $10 OFF + Free Box with code URTHBOX10 >>
UrthBox Healthy Snack Review: Bottom Line
UrthBox delivers a monthly box of healthy snacks from trusted brands directly to your door. With four snack box options, Classic, Gluten-Free, Vegan, and Diet, and 5 box sizes that all include only natural, organic, and non-GMO foods there is something for everyone.
We enjoyed the assortment of sweet and savory snacks as well as drinks included in our box and appreciate that every box comes with free shipping. We even found several new snacks to add to our usual snack rotation.
And while our box didn’t pack a huge savings compared to buying items online (though you can’t just buy 1 or 2 items online) versus the cost of the box, the beauty of UrthBox is not saving a ton of money, it’s discovering new and interesting snacks. I will warn you that if you have a tree nut allergy or peanut allergy, this box is not for you as we had several items with nuts and peanuts.
