In addition, Thrive Market is one of the most environmentally responsible markets online.  They became a 100% carbon-neutral company in 2019 and have partnered to protect nearly 500,000 acres of rainforest in the Amazon.

Thrive recycles, composts, or reuses over 90% of the material that enters their facility and became Zero Waste Certified in 2020.  And if that isn’t enough, they use 100% recyclable packaging (this includes the tape on the box) and deliver each shipment with a carbon-neutral footprint.

The products that Thrive Market carries are organic and non-GMO, supporting regenerative farmers and sustainable practices, meeting strict safety and quality standards like being free from 550+ toxic chemicals.

And to help you find exactly what you are looking for, the 6,000+ organic, non-GMO, and sustainable products that are priced at 25-50% off retail prices have been tagged according to 70 different diets, allergies, and lifestyle factors.  And are priced at 25-50% off retail prices.

Thrive Market Reviews: Prepared Meals

Included in our Build Your Own Positive Food Co. & Primal Kitchen Meal Bundle were 10 meals of our choice.  We selected Primal Kitchen Beef & Mushroom Bowl and Chicken Panang Curry Bowl (2) and Positive Food Co. Red Wine Braised Beef Stew (2), Kimchi Fried Rice, Moroccan Chicken Breast (2), Gochujang Roast Pork Loin, and Vegan Gnocchi & White Bean.

Positive Food Co. buys fresh ingredients from local suppliers, uses only fresh non-GMO ingredients, and makes everything from scratch.

Seven of our ten meals were from Positive Food Co. and we were excited to try this brand as we like that they support local farmers, use fresh ingredients, and are passionate about creating less waste while providing affordable, healthy food options.   Get $60 Free Groceries when you Join >>

  • Red Wine Braised Beef Stew:  This was one of our favorites as it tasted like a homemade beef stew with creamy mashed potatoes and green beans.  Next time, we would remove the mashed potatoes and microwave them separately as they took longer to cook than the beans and beef.  We would order this meal again.
  • Kimchi Fried Rice:  This meal was tasty and very filling.  It is the same fried rice that is in the Gochujang Roast Pork Loin minus the pork.
  • Moroccan Chicken Breast:  The bulk of this meal was unfortunately inedible as the chicken became tough in the microwave.  The quinoa and cauliflower were just ok.  We would not order this meal again.

  • Gochujang Roast Pork Loin:  Similar to the issue with the chicken, the pork became too tough to eat when it came out of the microwave.  We did enjoy the fried rice and greens as they had a really nice kick of flavor, but we would not order this meal again.
  • Vegan Gnocchi & White Bean:  To my surprise, I really enjoyed this meal.  The veggie meatballs were wonderful and the kale gnocchi and white beans were tasty and the sauce (not sure what it was) was unique and flavorful.  I would order this meal again and recommend mixing it very well so that you get the sauce throughout.

Next up, we tried 2 bowls from Primal Kitchen.  These bowls are Paleo Friendly, Whole30 Approved and made without dairy, gluten, or grains.

  • Chicken Panang Curry Bowl: This meal is full of veggies, rice, and cage-free dark meat chicken with 16g of protein.  I loved the flavorful curry sauce and the portion size was perfect for lunch.
  • Beef & Mushroom Bowl: This bowl is made with grass-fed beef and vegetables with 24g of protein.  This was another tasty meal from Primal Kitchen and one that I would order again.

On the Primal Kitchen website, each meal is $7.99 and at our local WholeFoods, we found these meals priced at $5.99 each.

The only place that we could find Positive Food Co prepared meals was at Thrive Market so we could not do a price comparison.  The portion size of the Positive Food Co. meals, on average, is over 400 grams whereas the Primal Kitchen meals were all around 250g-300g.  Based on this, we can assume that they are more expensive than the Primal Kitchen meals that retail for between $5.99-$7.99.

The total price for this 10 meal bundle on Thrive Market is $89.99.  This works out to around $8.99 per meal which is in the middle of the price range compared to other prepared meal companies that we have tried.  If you don’t have access to Primal Kitchen meals at your local high-end grocery store and/or want to try out prepared meals from Positive Foods Co. you may want to give this bundle a try.

It’s nice to have healthy and tasty meals on hand for a quick lunch or easy dinner.   Get $60 Free Groceries when you Join >>

Thrive Market Reviews: Snacks

Thrive Market has hundreds of healthy snack options.  We decided to order the Mission Meats Grass-Fed Beef Kids Snack Sticks.

thrive market mission meats kids beef sticks-thrive market reviews-mealfinds

Mission Meats’ snack sticks are made from 100% grass-fed, pasture-raised beef with no added nitrates, nitrites, hormones, or antibiotics. They’re Paleo-friendly and free of sugar, gluten, and MSG. In addition to providing clean, healthy snacks Mission Meats donates 10% of the profits to social-good organizations.

We loved these little beef sticks.  My son, 10, enjoyed the flavor and could easily put one in his coat to snack on while out playing with friends.  I also enjoyed the flavor and like that these sticks aren’t packed with fillers or made with meat with added hormones or antibiotics.   Get $60 Free Groceries when you Join >>

This package includes twenty-four 0.5 oz meat sticks, perfect for little fingers, for $18.99.  On the Mission Meats site, this item retails for $21.95, and Thrive Market says the retail value is $23.99.  With Thrive Market we saved $2 off of the retail price and we would definitely order again.

After reviewing the Thrive Market snacks section, there are some really interesting products that are made from high-quality ingredients and meet the quality and safety standards of Thrive Market.

There are also some good deals to be had especially with Thrive Market brand items, but like any store online or in-person prices will vary.  If you are a price-conscious shopper that is looking for healthy, organic, and sustainable products Thrive Market is a great option.  Especially if you do not have access to these products or brands locally and/or want the convenience of delivery directly to your door.  Get $60 Free Groceries when you Join >>

Thrive Market Reviews: Meat and Sustainable Seafood Bundle

meat and seafood on counter-thrive market reviews-mealfinds

For our second set of Thrive Market reviews, we purchased the Build Your Own Meat and Seafood Bundle.  In our bundle we were able to select 6 items, 4 had to be meat with the option of adding up to 2 seafood items.

The cost of this bundle was $119.99.

The meat items that we selected included:

  • Pederson’s 10oz Non-GMO and No Sugar Added Uncured Smoked Bacon
  • 10-12ct Organic Chicken Tender Strips
  • Grass-Fed Ground Beef 85/15 (1lb) (2x)
  • Mary’s Organic Boneless Skinless Breast (2-3ct) (3x)

All of the meat that we received were of the highest quality and tasted wonderful.  The Pederson’s No Sugar Added Uncured Bacon was the best no sugar added, nitrate-free bacon that we have ever tried.

The chicken tenders are organic and free-range, the meat is grass-fed and finished and humanely raised, and Mary’s Chicken is free-range, non-GMO, raised on a vegetarian diet without added hormones or antibiotics.  Get $60 Free Groceries when you Join >>

The two seafood items that we ordered were:

  • Wild Caught Pacific Cod (24oz, 4-6ct)
  • Wild Caught Ahi Tuna (24oz, 4-6ct)

Thrive Market seafood is sustainably caught and frozen immediately after harvesting to lock in freshness and flavor.  Both the Pacific Cod and Ahi Tuna were wild and they both tasted amazing.

We marinated the Ahi in a simple teriyaki marinade and then pan-seared and served it alongside rice and broccoli.  There was no “fishy” taste and this pack of 5 filets could easily feed a family of 4.

The Pacific Cod was also delicious.  We marinated the cod in a miso sauce for 48 hours and then pan-seared and served alongside rice and asparagus.  The fish was rich and buttery and again could easily feed a family of 4.

When comparing the quality of this Meat & Seafood Bundle from Thrive Market to our local high-end grocery store, WholeFoods, we found that the Thrive Market products were as good as or better than what we can find locally.

When comparing the price of this bundle to similar items at WholeFoods we found that the products we selected are priced almost identically.  With that said, the added convenience of at-home delivery and the ability to subscribe and save an additional 5-10% makes me recommend buying your sustainably sourced meat and seafood at Thrive Market.   Get $60 Free Groceries when you Join >>

Thrive Market Reviews: Bottom Line

Shopping for healthy groceries can be difficult as marketing and advertising can hide what’s really in a product or what a brand truly stands for.  Thrive Market brings the highest quality, healthy and sustainable products available right to your door from trusted brands.

We love that Thrive has so many high-quality products and that both brands and products meet rigorous quality and safety standards.  The beef sticks that we tried we great and at the best price that we could find online.  The prepared meals were overall good, with a few exceptions, and not sure if we would order those again.  And the meat & seafood bundle was by far the winner of our orders in terms of both quality and value.

And while Thrive Market is worth the membership fee to those who are already shopping for organic, high-quality sustainable products (or those who want to start), it’s not for everyone.  If you don’t care about the brand or products you buy and are only looking for the lowest price, Thrive Market is not for you.

If you are looking for organic, non-GMO, sustainable products from trusted brands delivered to your door at 25-50% off retail, Thrive Market is worth a try!  And with their 30-day free trial, you have nothing to lose.  Get $60 Free Groceries when you Join >>
