Sizzlefish Reviews: Wild Fish Favorites Grill Pack
For our first Sizzlefish reviews, we selected the Wild Fish Favorites Grill Pack. This pack includes
2 – 4 oz+ Portions Sockeye Salmon
2 – 4 oz+ Portions Halibut
2 – 4 oz+ Portions King Salmon
2 – 4 oz+ Portions Haddock
2 – 6 oz+ Portions Mahi-Mahi
2 – 4 oz+ Portions Atlantic Cod
We ordered a la carte, but Sizzlefish has a subscription option as well. More on that below!
The cost of the Wild Fish Favorites Grill Pack was $99.95 with FREE shipping at the time of purchase. That works out to $7.69 per 4 oz portion.
When compared to grocery store fish/seafood this may seem expensive, but compared to quality seafood markets, or even our local Whole Foods, we found this pricing to be in line with quality, sustainably sourced seafood.
All of the fish in the Wild Fish Favorites Grill Pack are wild-caught and sustainably sourced. In fact, most of the fish that Sizzlefish offers is wild-caught, with the exception of the Atlantic salmon, rainbow trout, and catfish that are sustainably farmed species.
Fish and seafood come pre-portioned so that you easily thaw and eat what you need reducing food waste and spoilage.
Your order will arrive in a reusable cooler with plenty of dry ice inside a plain box. We don’t love that Sizzlefish uses styrofoam coolers and hope that they come up with a more environmentally friendly option in the future.
You can rest assured that your fish and seafood will stay frozen through transit and can sit outside until you get home to bring your package inside.
Plus, your Sizzlefish fish and seafood are flash-frozen using special equipment within a couple of days or hours of leaving the ocean which stops bacteria from breaking down the protein and helps your fish stay in a very fresh state for months.
Inside of your mini cooler, you will see your pre-portioned and vacuum-sealed fish and seafood. Unpack your cooler and transfer your items into your freezer, keeping those that you would like to eat the next day in the refrigerator. Save 15% with code MEALFINDS >>
For our family of three, the 12 portions in our Wild Fish Favorites Grill Pack gave us 3 healthy fish dinners with plenty of fish to go around and even some leftovers for lunch the next day.
We made a wonderful salmon dinner with the Sockeye Salmon and King Salmon. Both were seasoned with a teriyaki glaze and sesame seeds and tray baked in the oven with broccoli. The fish tasted fresh, light, and flakey.
Next, we made two of the white fish, the Cod, and the Halibut. We marinated both in a miso marinade overnight then cooked on the stovetop. They were buttery and rich, especially the halibut.
Finally, we sauteed the Mahi Mahi and Haddock with a lemon and garlic sauce and paired it with rice and broccoli for a light and healthy meal. This fish, like the others, tasted wonderful. Even though they arrived frozen, they tasted fresh and delicious.
The Sizzlefish Halibut is wild-caught in the waters of Southeast Alaska and is a light flaky fish that is easy to cook and really soaks up marinades and sauces.
The Crab Cakes, which are 100% gluten-free, are full of domestic, jumbo lump and backfin crab meat, seasoned with Chesapeake-style spices, and include gluten-free bread crumbs.
As promised, the halibut was light and flaky and packed with flavor. We baked the halibut with olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and lemon juice and it turned out perfect.
We were very happy with the crab cakes as well. They were pre-portioned, like the other fish, and super easy to thaw in the refrigerator overnight, and bake for about 20 min in a 350-degree oven.
They tasted great and you could see the lumps of crab throughout the cake. And no one could tell that they were gluten-free!
TIP: We love the Sizzlefish Assortments and feel that they offer a lot of value simply by buying in larger quantities and would definitely recommend that you check out their Seafood Assortments section when you shop!
For our second Sizzlefish review we also ordered 3 x 6 oz portions of Yellowfin Tuna (aka Ahi).
Each portion was $12.95, but if you order 6 or 12 portions you can save.
1 portion: $12.95
6 portions: $74.95
12 portions: $119.95
This Yellowfin Tuna is line-caught in the Pacific and is sashimi-grade making it perfect for sushi and sashimi dishes, not to mention a sustainable and healthy choice. In other words, you can eat it raw.
Sizzlefish says that it is AAA-rated, but they don’t go into what that means and have no other information on the page to explain.
We absolutely LOVED this tuna. We created a marinade of sorts with mirin, soy sauce, sesame oil, and agave and then coated it with toasted sesame seeds and seared on a pan for 30 seconds per side.
You could taste the quality in every bite. There was no fishy taste, it cut like butter, and was a wonderful treat for dinner.
And while this tuna when purchased in small quantities is on the expensive side, you are getting sushi-grade fish which is the highest quality tuna you can buy. And you can always order in larger quantities to save and store your fish in the freezer for months.
There is not a ton of information on how Sizzlefish gets their seafood or the fishermen/fisheries they partner with. They do say that all of their seafood is wild-caught with the exception of Atlantic salmon, rainbow trout, and catfish, and also list the general area where the seafood is from on each product page (though not all have this information).
Sizzlefish has partnered with the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch program: “We’re supporting healthy, abundant oceans by partnering with the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch® program, and we’re making changes to source only environmentally responsible seafood.”
They have also partnered with Alaska Seafood to work with Alaskan fishermen and source sustainable seafood. We love these partnerships as they lend credibility to Sizzlefish claims of sustainable seafood delivery.
This is a great start and we would like to see more transparency into sustainability efforts and seafood sources.
Sizzlefish offers three subscription options, the Sizzlefish Wild Fish Favorites subscription, the Sizzlefish Prime subscription, and the Sizzlefish Prime Plus subscription. With your flexible subscription, you will receive a box every month.

Sizzlefish is an online seafood market that delivers top-quality, sustainably sourced, perfectly portioned fish and seafood directly to your door.
Overall, Sizzlefish is a great option if you are looking for quality, sustainable seafood delivery. We like that you can order a la carte or subscribe and save. We also like that every order comes with free shipping.
Our fish tasted wonderful and the quality is better than that found in most major supermarkets. And we like that Sizzlefish delivers preportioned, vacuum-sealed fish and seafood so that you can safely store your order in the freezer until you are ready to eat (reducing freezer burn and waste). This is also great for singles so that they can feel confident ordering without worrying about having to separate out each portion.
And while our fish and crab cakes tasted great, we don’t love that Sizzlefish uses styrofoam coolers as they can’t be recycled and therefore aren’t environmentally friendly. In addition, we would love to see more transparency around where our fish and seafood comes from and how it’s sourced throughout the website.
Compared to other seafood delivery companies that we have reviewed, Sizzlefish has a larger selection than most and you can taste the quality in every bite. In addition, their prices are in line with other seafood delivery companies. We recommend buying in bulk to save on every order!
If your only access to quality, sustainably sourced seafood is your local grocery store, if you don’t want to brave a seafood market, or just want seafood delivered to your door, Sizzlefish is a solid option to try.
