What are Protein Balls?
Protein balls, or energy balls, seem to be the snacking rage these days. These bite-sized snacks can be enjoyed post-workout or as an on-the-go healthy snack to hold you over until your next meal. Usually made with high protein ingredients like nut butter (peanut butter is very popular) and flax or chia seeds, rolled oats for energy, and something sweet like chocolate chips, honey, coconut, or dried fruit.
Some people even add protein powder to give their protein balls more protein! Protein balls are super versatile and can fit into almost any diet as they can be made gluten-free, dairy-free, paleo, keto, and/or vegan.
There are a ton of DIY recipes online, but we opted to try some from Midi Bites as they have perfected the recipes and there’s no need to go to the grocery store looking for ingredients, not to mention taking the time to actually make the snacks every week. Get 20% OFF with code MEALFINDS >>
Midi Bites Protein Balls Review
I was super excited to hear about Midi Bites as I am always on the lookout for healthy snacks for myself and my family and don’t have time to go to the store and test a bunch of protein ball recipes. I also have a wicked sweet tooth and it’s hard to find sweet healthy snacks that are not packed full of preservatives and sugar substitutes.
All Midi Bites include the 4 ingredients below and other healthy and organic ingredients are added to make each flavor unique.
Organic Oatmeal: Rich in fiber, loaded with antioxidants, and known to help prevent heart disease. Oats are known to be generally higher in protein and have a lower glycemic index compared to other grains, which means they won’t spike your blood sugar and you will feel full and satisfied for longer.
Organic Flax Seed: Flax seeds are rich in fiber and heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids. Regular consumption of flax seeds can help lower cholesterol, improve digestion, and reduce the risk of heart disease and certain cancers.
Organic Dates: Deemed “nature’s candy”, dates bring a touch of natural sweetness to these balls. Dates are also rich in fiber for healthy digestion and antioxidants that help protect against inflammation and disease
Organic Chia Seeds: Chia seeds are rich in fiber, heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids, protein, calcium, phosphorus, and zinc. Similar to flax seeds, chia seeds can help lower cholesterol, improve digestion, and reduce the risk of heart disease and certain cancers.
TIP: These protein bites are free from preservatives and need to be stored in the fridge or freezer! The cold air helps to preserve freshness and prevent them from going bad. It’s totally worth it knowing that they are free from unnecessary ingredients.
Midi Bites can last for up to four to six months when refrigerated and can last five days after they’ve been opened when not refrigerated. Get 20% OFF with code MEALFINDS >>
Midi Bites Review: Peanut Butter Protein Balls
These peanut butter protein balls are packed with organic chocolate chips and cranberries in addition to organic peanut butter to bring you the perfect late afternoon or post-workout snack. They are not overly sweet and the hint of chocolate flavor does not overpower the delicious peanut butter. Get 20% OFF with code MEALFINDS >>
These almond bites are filled with crunchy coconut and definitely taste more like coconut than almond. I’ve been eating these bites in the late morning to tide me over until lunch. And then I have another between lunch and dinner (and then maybe another one after dinner!). These Midi Bites are my favorite as I love the coconut taste! Get 20% OFF with code MEALFINDS >>
These chocolatey squares of goodness are nut-free and a perfect snack to satisfy your sweet after dinner cravings. And because they are nut-free they are the perfect snack for kids to take to school, daycare, sports practices, or playgroups! Get 20% OFF with code MEALFINDS >>
Midi Bites protein balls are an amazing protein-packed, energy snack for kids and adults alike. Filled with organic, whole foods, and nothing artificial these bites make for a great post-workout, in-between meals, and on-the-go snack.
I loved all of the flavors, but am partial to the Almond because of its strong coconut taste. A close second was the chocolate because who doesn’t love a little bite, or two, of chocolatey goodness after dinner. Best of all no sugar crash or weird aftertaste!
And while we loved the taste and convenience of these protein-packed snacks, they are a bit expensive compared to other protein snacks on the market. Use the offer below to save on your order!
Midi Bites protein balls are great for anyone looking for a healthy, clean, organic snack, for those looking for a high-protein snack, and anyone looking for a healthy snack for their kids. Get 20% OFF with code MEALFINDS >>
