How does Misfits Market work?
Getting started with Misfits Market is easy simply sign up, select your delivery date, and fill your box with at least $30 worth of items.
To get started:
1. Sign up (email address, zip code, address, etc.) and select your delivery date
2. Fill your box. You will then have a three-day window before your next billing and delivery date to pick your organic produce and add on groceries and pantry staples.
3. Reach the $30 box minimum in the 3-day window you are charged and they ship your box, if you don’t, that delivery is skipped and you are not charged.
This was a bit confusing as after I checked out I wanted to build my box but had to wait several days for my “window”. SHOP NOW >>
During the 3-day “Build your box” window, items are first come first served, meaning that if you don’t log on when you receive the email you could miss out on some items that you wanted.
For example, we wanted organic strawberries because they were $3.99/lb and when we logged in they were already sold out. We pushed our delivery date out 2 days and then waited for the email to Build Our Box and jumped on as soon as we could.
As you can imagine, this is not ideal, but we do understand that Misfits doesn’t have unlimited quantities of every item in their marketplace. Compared to other similar services this is unique and something customers will need to get used to. SHOP NOW >>
Misfits Market Reviews
We were really excited to try Misfits Market as we eat a lot of fresh produce in our house and are always looking for ways to save money and help the planet. And after learning about all of the food that is thrown away because it’s not “perfect”, and thinking about how many people in the world are starving, I can’t believe that we didn’t try them sooner.
For our Misfits Market reviews, we selected a little bit of everything including organic fruit and vegetables, fresh herbs, along with grocery items, and even dog treats.
The price of our Misfits Market box was $44.03 + $5.50 shipping.
We love that with Misfits we can fully customize our box. Compared to similar services, you aren’t always able to select every item. SHOP NOW >>
In our box we received
Organic Mixed Bell Peppers, 2: $2.99
Organic Yellow Onion, 1: $0.89

Misfits Market recommends placing all temperature-sensitive items in the fridge as soon as possible as well as washing each item before eating them, as many are straight from the farm.
I didn’t know what to expect from this “rescued food” – would it simply have slight imperfections on the surface, come in an odd size, have out-of-date packaging? As we took our order out of the box, nothing stood out as super odd-looking. I did notice that one of the green bell peppers and one of the lemons were a little bruised and the strawberries were very ripe. SHOP NOW >>
Misfits Market Reviews: Organic Produce and Herbs
Misfits Market sources their produce from certified organic hand-picked farms and partners that supply non-GMO food across the Americas. They also include organic produce (e.g., citrus and avocados) sourced outside the country to offer more variety in your box.
Much of their produce is seasonal, just like in your local grocery store. In the fall and winter, you can expect apples, potatoes, squash, sweet potatoes, and broccoli and in the spring and summer more berries, peaches, tomatoes, and asparagus.
We were surprised and delighted to see fresh organic herbs being offered as other services only offer organic fruit and vegetables. SHOP NOW >>
Organic Fruit & Herbs
We received 3 Organic Lemons, 1 Organic Tommy Atkins Mango, 2 x 1lb Organic Strawberries, 3 Organic Valencia Oranges, 1x 6 oz container of Organic Blueberries, and 0.5 oz of Fresh Organic Mint.
The fruit selection went fast during the 3-day window and we recommend building your box as soon as you can. We loved seeing the fresh organic herbs, though there wasn’t a huge selection. When we saw the fresh mint we immediately added it to our box. It’s too early in the season for fresh mint in our garden and I love fresh mint iced tea with lemon on a warm spring or summer day.
All of the items were in good condition and didn’t look odd at all. There was one lemon that was a bit bruised and tasted fine. The strawberries were very ripe with one moldy strawberry in each of the two containers. Other than that, everything we received tasted wonderful. SHOP NOW >>
Compared to similar organic fruit and herbs in our local grocery store, we saved $8.53 with Misfits Market. I will note that this is not a perfect comparison as we don’t have a food scale to weigh items and items are not exactly the same. Still, this can give you some idea of the savings. SHOP NOW >>

Organic Vegetables
We also received 2 Organic Green Bell Peppers, 1 Organic Yellow Onion, 12 oz of Organic Green Beans, 2 Organic Bunched Broccoli, and 2 Organic Russet Potatoes.
There was a good variety of organic vegetables available when we built our box and we easily found vegetables that we eat every week in stock, like potatoes, bell peppers, broccoli, onions, and green beans. We made a tofu and broccoli dinner, a tuna and green beans dinner, as well as a taco dinner with our organic vegetables. It was very convenient to have them delivered.
These items also arrived in good condition with just one bruised green pepper. The green peppers were on the small side, though. SHOP NOW >>
Compared to similar organic vegetables in our local grocery store, we saved around an additional $4.79 with Misfits Market. As noted above, this is not an “apples to apples” (haha) comparison, but close. SHOP NOW >>

So far we have saved a little over $13 on organic produce with Misfits Market over our local grocery store. Not bad! SHOP NOW >>
When you build your box you also have access to discounted pantry items including nuts, pet treats, bakery goods, snacks, and more. We ordered 1 x 8oz bag of Organic Garlic Herb Cashews, 1 x 16 oz Organic Take & Bake Artisan Style Bread, 5 x 0.5 oz Original 100% Grass-Fed Beef Sticks, and 1 x 5oz bag of Sweet Potato Dog Treats.
All items arrived in perfect condition both inside and out. We checked the expiration dates and none were expired. Our dog Daisy loved her sweet potato chips, my son loved the mini beef sticks in his lunch, and I devoured the organic garlic herb cashews. We placed the take and bake bread in the freezer to use later.
Compared to similar organic and natural items in our local grocery store we saved around an additional $8.67 with Misfits Market. SHOP NOW >>

Is Misfits Market Cheaper than the Grocery Store?
This brings our total savings to $21.99 with Misfits Market compared to our local grocery store!
That means that our $44 Misfits Market box would cost around $66 if we were to buy the same items at our local grocery store. That’s a 33% savings!Even when you factor in the shipping fee of $5.50, we still saved $16.50 or 25% over the grocery store and didn’t have to leave our house.
And while the savings are clearly there, you may have more variety in your local grocery store than on Misfits Market. So you could get some of the items you need/want each week and others may not be available. If you are flexible this might be ok, but if you are counting on an ingredient you may have to go to the grocery store so that you are guaranteed that you have it. SHOP NOW >>
Misfits Market Reviews: Bottom Line
Misfits Market delivers organic fruit, vegetables, and herbs along with sustainably sourced pantry staples directly to your door. By rescuing organic produce that doesn’t look “perfect” they are breaking the cycle of food waste, saving millions of pounds of fresh food, and saving you money.
We love that when we shop through Misfits we are helping the Earth, supporting organic farmers, and fighting food waste. We also love that we can save money, up to 40%, over grocery store prices. Let’s face it, organic produce is expensive, but the health benefits are numerous. Misfits allow you to eat organic fruits and vegetables at a fraction of the cost. We were able to save $22, around 33%, by shopping with Misfits.
When comparing Misfits to other organic produce delivery services, we like that you can fully customize your order and won’t end up with food that you don’t care for. We also like that you can add pantry and grocery items to your box with additional savings and added convenience.
And while the savings are clearly there, the variety might not the same as what you would find in the organic section of your local grocery store, and items tend to sell out fast. In addition, as Misfits changes over from offering 2 box sizes to a $30 minimum order, the ordering process can be a bit confusing with the 3-day “build your box” window and something to get used to.
We recommend Misfits Market for anyone who is looking to support organic farmers, fight food waste, and save on organic produce and grocery items. SHOP NOW >>
