What We Like
Amazing, ever-changing selection!
Makes a great gift!
Goldbelly live cooking, baking, and cake decorating classes!
What We Don’t Like
Items can be expensive (but totally worth it for Special Occasions, Date Nights, Holidays, and Gifting!)
Shipping can be expensive (look for items that ship for free!)
For our Goldbelly reviews, we selected a meal kit by Girl & The Goat as well as a scone gift box from Seven Sisters Scones. I would say that a majority of the items on the Goldbelly site are what I would call “prepared items or desserts”, meaning they are already cooked or baked and all you have to do is heat them up and/or serve. This includes things like the scones we ordered, cakes, pies, bread, and pastries, as well as meats, bbq, seafood, entire meals, and sides.
But Goldbelly also has Meal Kits from your favorite chefs and restaurants, as well as kits with live cooking classes (more on those below!), and we were excited to try them out to see how they compare to more traditional meal kits. SHOP NOW >>
Goldbelly Reviews: Meal Kits
The meal kit that we selected is from Girl & The Goat restaurant in Chicago, IL which was voted “Top 100 Restaurants in the Country” by OpenTable and “The 101 Best Restaurants in America” by The Daily Meal. The mastermind behind this restaurant is James Beard Award winner Stephanie Izard, one of America’s best chefs and the winner of Season 1 of “Iron Chef Gauntlet” and Season 4 of “Top Chef”. My husband and I are huge Top Chef fans and I was super excited to see Stephanie and Girl & The Goat on Goldbelly.
After reviewing all of the yummy meal kit options from Girl & The Goat on Goldbelly we decided to go with the “Girl & The Goat 10 Year Bday Kit”. This kit feeds four and includes the fan-favorite Goat Empanadas and 2 signature dishes, the Pig Face and Green Beans, as well as chocolate chip cookies.
When we opened up our box from Girl & The Goat, I was excited and a bit intimidated by the number of sauces and ingredients included. SHOP NOW >>
Goldbelly Girl & The Goat Unboxing by MealFinds
The instructions were thorough and easy to follow, though there were a lot of things going on in the kitchen and timing was key. The level of difficulty was intermediate/moderate with none of the meals requiring a lot of skill, just a lot of steps to follow.
The meal was packed with layers of interesting flavors, smells, and textures and by the end, we were delightfully stuffed with room only for a huge chocolate chip cookie (which was equally as amazing!). SHOP NOW >>
This meal kit was hands-down one of the best meals that I’ve had in a long time, at home or in a restaurant, and I would highly recommend purchasing a Girl & The Goat meal kit from Goldbelly for a special occasion dinner like a birthday or anniversary, or for a dinner party with friends (they will be amazed!), a Holiday dinner, or as a gift for those who love to cook.
The cost of this meal kit was $89 + $30 shipping at the time of this post which works about to around $22.50 per person + shipping for this meal. This is more expensive than traditional meal kits, but what you get is far superior and perfect for a holiday or celebration dinner. The quality of the ingredients, the amount of food, and the complex flavor profiles are something that can only be created by an award-winning chef and restaurant.
Goldbelly Reviews: Goldbelly LIVE! Cook-Along Kits and Classes
Earlier this year, 2020, GoldBelly began featuring Goldbelly Live! Cook-Alongs, online live cooking and baking classes featuring some of the top chefs in the world. With these classes, you can decorate cakes with Buddy Valastro, the Cake Boss himself, or cook with James Beard Award-winning chef superstar, Marcus Samuelsson, or spend the evening cooking a three-course meal with the culinary icon and renowned chef Daniel Boulud.
Best of all, with the purchase of a Goldbelly Live! meal kit, you receive access to the class for FREE. But note, there are limited kits and spots available. At the time of this posting, there were 3 upcoming classes and they all looked amazing!
Goldbelly Reviews: Food Gifts (are the best gifts!)
We are huge believers in sending food gifts as everyone loves good food, it can be a highly personal and unique gift, and there are endless options available. Goldbelly has hundreds of unique, giftable food items from shops, chefs, and restaurants all over the country.
We wanted to review a Holiday food gift on Goldbelly to better understand the gifting process and experience. We selected a mini scone gift box from Seven Sisters Scones in Johns Creek, GA. Not only do these scones look amazing, but they also come in assorted flavors and sizes, and are something that I would happily receive this Holiday season (or any time of the year!). SHOP NOW >>
Seven Sisters Scones: Nice Mini Scone Gift Box
Seven Sisters Scones deliver soft, moist scones that are baked fresh daily using high-quality ingredients. On Goldbelly, you can choose from regular size scones or mini scones in assorted seasonal flavors. And because it’s December, Seven Sisters was featuring Christmas-themed gift boxes including a “Naughty” Scone Gift box as well as a “Nice” Scone Gift box which both looked wonderful. We ended up selecting the “Nice” box because we preferred those flavors.
When the package arrived at our door in the Seven Sisters Scones signature red box, it immediately grabbed our attention and we couldn’t wait to see what was inside!

Our “Nice” box included three mini scones each of the following flavors Cinnamon Coffee Cake, Maple Pumpkin, Cranberry Orange, and Gingerbread. And as promised, the scones were soft and packed with delicious flavors. SHOP NOW >>
The cost of this gift box at the time of this posting is $49 with FREE shipping. This works out to around $4 per yummy scone.
This gift box was wonderful and would delight anyone lucky enough to receive it. We have shopped Goldbelly in the past to send a special ice cream gift from San Francisco to my dad in New Jersey and will continue to turn to Goldbelly for gifts in the future. SHOP NOW >>
We highly recommend Goldbelly! Whether you are looking for a special holiday or celebration meal, a fun seasonal treat, or want to send a unique gift to someone you love, Goldbelly is your place to connect with small shops, restaurants, and world-renowned chefs.
We love that the products change regularly so you never know what you will find and they always have seasonal items, which are perfect for gifting. And while the items on Goldbelly can be expensive and are certainly not replacing your weekly meal kit order, there are ways to save like browsing items with free shipping or shopping the Goldbelly flash sale section.
