For our Goldbelly reviews, we selected a meal kit by Girl & The Goat as well as a scone gift box from Seven Sisters Scones. I would say that a majority of the items on the Goldbelly site are what I would call “prepared items or desserts”, meaning they are already cooked or baked and all you have to do is heat them up and/or serve.
This includes things like the scones we ordered, cakes, pies, bread, and pastries, as well as meats, bbq, seafood, entire meals, and sides.
But Goldbelly also has Meal Kits from your favorite chefs and restaurants, as well as kits with live cooking classes (more on those below!), and we were excited to try them out to see how they compare to more traditional meal kits. SHOP NOW >>
The meal kit that we selected is from Girl & The Goat restaurant in Chicago, IL which was voted “Top 100 Restaurants in the Country” by OpenTable and “The 101 Best Restaurants in America” by The Daily Meal. The mastermind behind this restaurant is James Beard Award winner Stephanie Izard, one of America’s best chefs and the winner of Season 1 of “Iron Chef Gauntlet” and Season 4 of “Top Chef”. My husband and I are huge Top Chef fans and I was super excited to see Stephanie and Girl & The Goat on Goldbelly.

After reviewing all of the yummy meal kit options from Girl & The Goat on Goldbelly we decided to go with the “Girl & The Goat 10 Year Bday Kit”.
This kit feeds four and includes the fan-favorite Goat Empanadas and 2 signature dishes, the Pig Face and Green Beans, as well as chocolate chip cookies.

The instructions were thorough and easy to follow, though there were a lot of things going on in the kitchen and timing was key. The level of difficulty was intermediate/moderate with none of the meals requiring a lot of skill, just a lot of steps to follow.
The meal was packed with layers of interesting flavors, smells, and textures and by the end, we were delightfully stuffed with room only for a huge chocolate chip cookie (which was equally as amazing!). SHOP NOW >>
This meal kit was hands-down one of the best meals that I’ve had in a long time, at home or in a restaurant, and I would highly recommend purchasing a Girl & The Goat meal kit from Goldbelly for a special occasion dinner like a birthday or anniversary, or for a dinner party with friends (they will be amazed!), a Holiday dinner, or as a gift for those who love to cook.
The cost of this meal kit was $89 + $30 shipping at the time of this post which works about to around $22.50 per person + shipping for this meal. This is more expensive than traditional meal kits, but what you get is far superior and perfect for a holiday or celebration dinner.
The quality of the ingredients, the amount of food, and the complex flavor profiles are something that can only be created by an award-winning chef and restaurant.
