We brewed a cup of Four Sigmatic THINK mushroom coffee, and added it to a cup of ice for iced coffee on a hot and humid summer morning. Four Sigmatic recommends adding nut milk, coconut oil, or other natural sweeteners to add a little sweetness to your coffee. I personally, like my coffee black.
This is a medium roast coffee, with a deep nutty taste that isn’t bitter. I found it to taste more like a dark roast with a bold coffee flavor that wasn’t as smooth as the BALANCE coffee we tasted, but there was NO mushroom or odd taste.
Four Sigmatic coffee has about half (50mg) the caffeine as most homebrewed coffee and because of this, I would naturally expect to be less jittery and not crash like I usually do at some point during the day. I was hoping that I would still get the morning boost of energy that I have come to need/expect/enjoy with regular coffee and it didn’t let me down.
This deep dark coffee was great over ice and didn’t cause jitters for me, but I did experience the mid-day crash. This could just be me, maybe I drank too many cups, or maybe I have to continue drinking to see/feel all of the benefits? Either way, I enjoyed the coffee.

This ground adaptogen coffee is supposed to help you get your morning coffee fix while also helping you destress without the jitters and mid-day crash.
We made a batch of cold brew coffee from our bag of Four Sigmatic BALANCE, let sit in the fridge for 24 hours, and poured a cup for breakfast. I like my cold brew black on ice, but Four Sigmatic recommends nut milk, coconut oil, or other natural sweeteners to enhance the flavor and add a touch of sweetness.
This is a medium roast coffee, with a smooth, caramel-like taste that isn’t bitter at all. And NO mushroom taste or any other odd taste from the adaptogens added, just the wonderful taste of coffee.
With about half the caffeine as most homemade coffee, I was worried that I wouldn’t get the morning boost that I was used to. And it makes sense that if you drink coffee with less caffeine, you would have fewer jitters and avoid a mid-day crash.
But can it also help you find balance and destress? To answer this question, I drank the BALANCE cold brew for about a week. During this time, I was less jittery thanks to the lower amount of caffeine and didn’t experience a huge crash in the afternoon, but I’m not sure if I felt more “balanced”.
I really liked the smooth taste and the fact that I still got my morning energy boost without the jitters and think that I may have to give it time before I really notice any sort of results.

I don’t really have an evening ritual outside of washing my face and brushing my teeth and occasionally drink herbal tea at night while I’m working or watching TV. I try to stay away from consuming anything with sugar before I go to bed as it tends to keep me awake so I made a cup of mushroom Cacao mix shortly after dinner as a dessert drink.
When I opened the Cocao mix packet the smell of cinnamon and chocolate filled the air and I was excited to try this cup of CHILL. I filled my cup with hot water and gave it a good stir before sitting down for a guilty pleasure reality show on Netflix.
This mix tasted like a watery hot chocolate and cinnamon drink with a hint of Stevia. My husband, who is less sensitive to Stevia, didn’t taste it at all. I wanted it to be creamy and recommend adding a creamy milk of your choice to make it more like hot chocolate.
Did it make me CHILL? Short answer, yes, it did. I don’t know if it was because I drank the Cacao mix after dinner, or because it was warm and comforting, or because of the Reishi, but I did feel calm. SHOP NOW >>

In addition, benefits like stress reduction, immune and gut support, as well as relaxation can take time and will vary from person to person, but we like knowing that the ingredients used have been used for centuries in traditional medicine with proven results.
