How does the eMeals app work?
eMeals is an incredible meal planning app that lets you choose the recipes you’d like to make from a wide variety of options and then creates a list of ingredients you need to make those specific meals. The process is very streamlined, making choosing your recipes super easy. Here is how the app works from start, to finish.
First, you need to download the eMeals app. Once you have the app downloaded, you will need to select your meal plan. Picking the best meal plan for you will help you see the recipes that you will enjoy most and those that closely follow your dietary needs.
The Keto meal plan, Quick and Easy plan, or Budget-Friendly meal plan are a few of the many plans you can pick from. We chose the Quick and Healthy Family plan. Start your 14-Day FREE trial now >>
Once you have selected your plan, you can view recipe menus for the week. eMeals adds new menus each week, giving you 7 diverse recipe ideas per plan. You can select all of the recipes on the curated meal plan or you can search for your own recipes.
Choosing the curated meal plan for the week is very fast and saves a lot of time- no need to think about what’s for dinner! However, we also liked the option to pick and choose our meals.
When you see a recipe you like, you can add it to your personal list. You can add as many recipes as you like to your list, adding breakfast ideas, desserts, and even drink options. You can really plan every single meal for the entire week this way!
You can review your recipe list and add or delete meals as needed.
As you add your meals, the eMeals app automatically generates a grocery list for you. Everything you need to make the meals you picked will be on the list, even the salt and pepper! You can see how many items are on your shopping list and remove those you already have in your pantry at home. If you are fully stocked on olive oil, just check it off your list. There are two ways to shop for your groceries. You can choose to print the eMeals grocery list and head to your favorite local grocery store or you can buy your groceries online and have them delivered. The eMeals app lets you choose your preferred online grocery store or grocery delivery service. Type in your zip code and you will see what stores offer online shopping and delivery near you.
We chose to use Amazon Fresh for our grocery delivery.
The eMeals app prompted us to Amazon fresh and sent them our complete grocery list. Each item on the list automatically popped up and you could add your choice to your shopping cart. For example, one of our recipes required fresh parsley so Amazon Fresh showed us all the fresh parsley options and we could add our choice to our cart.
Once you picked each ingredient, the app would instantly search for the next ingredient. It was very easy to choose all the ingredients we needed. It was also great to know we weren’t missing anything from the list since the entire process was automated.
When you are ready to make an eMeal recipe, all you need to do is open the app, pull up your meal list, and find the recipe you need. All the recipes we chose were straightforward and pretty simple to make. You already know you have every ingredient you need ready to go! eMeals definitely makes dinnertime simple. For our eMeals review, we selected the following recipes:
Garlic Butter Steak
Sticky Garlic Chicken
Almond Butter-Chocolate Fudge
Oven Pork Tenderloin
Crispy Baked Zucchini Chips
Quick Chicken Cordon Bleu
Cheesy Wonton Wrapped Little Smokies
We ordered all the ingredients we needed through the eMeals app, choosing Amazon Fresh grocery delivery. The groceries were very easy to order and each item was checked off our grocery list as we added it to our online cart. The groceries were delivered to our door the next day. It was very easy and convenient!
The only issue we had with the online grocery delivery is that our order did include some substitutions. When a certain item wasn’t available, Amazon Fresh automatically substituted it with another, similar item. For example, our pork tenderloin was not in stock so instead, we were shipped a herb marinated pork tenderloin. In most cases, the substitution is fine.
However, a few of the substitutions didn’t work well for our recipes. Of course, this happens and can be avoided if you choose to print the eMeals grocery list and just go to the store. We chose to work with the substitutions we received and make the recipes happen anyway! Start your 14-Day FREE trial now >>
eMeals Recipe Review: Garlic Butter Steak Recipe
This recipe was very simple and took only about 5 minutes to put together and 20 minutes to cook. We started by placing the sweet potato fries in the oven so they had time to cook. While the fries were cooking, we patted the steak dry, sprinkled it with some salt and pepper, and then cooked it in a hot skillet for 7 minutes, flipping the steak halfway through.
We removed the steak from the pan, added the butter and garlic, and cooked the garlic in the pan for one minute. The garlic butter was drizzled over the steak and the fries served on the side.
The sticky garlic chicken recipe started off by sauteing the chopped chicken thighs in olive oil. The honey, soy sauce, garlic, rice vinegar, crushed red pepper, and sesame seeds were whisked together and then added to the pan with the chicken. The chicken cooked for another minute in the sauce and then it was ready.
The chicken is paired with some boil-in-bag brown rice that is tossed with sesame oil, salt, and green onions. Some steamed broccoli is mixed in and the dinner is ready. We did like this meal combination and thought the homemade garlic honey sauce had a lot of flavor. It was easier than ordering take-out for sure! Start your 14-Day FREE trial now >>
This 5 ingredient fudge recipe only took about 6 minutes to put together. The almond butter and coconut oil were melted together in the microwave and then the powdered sugar was mixed in along with the vanilla. This mix was poured into the prepared pan and then drizzled with some melted chocolate on top. The pan was put into the freezer to harden.
We really liked the flavor of this fudge and, if you use powdered erythritol in place of powdered sugar, the fudge is keto-friendly. However, it needs to be kept frozen or the fudge gets super soft. The swirled chocolate is also hard to cut when frozen and it was very tricky to get nice squares of fudge without cracking the chocolate layer.
It was a pretty messy process. Definitely should be enjoyed frozen, right out of the freezer though, or you may need a spoon instead of eating the fudge by hand! Start your 14-Day FREE trial now >>
Garlic, salt, pepper, and thyme were mixed together and then rubbed on the pork tenderloin. The pork was left to marinate with the dry rub overnight. The next day, we baked the pork for 45 minutes then sliced it into ½ inch rounds and enjoyed it with a side of broccoli.
While we ordered a plain pork tenderloin via Amazon Fresh, we received pre-marinated pork. This kind of defeated the purpose of the recipe since the entire recipe revolves around making a tasty garlic marinade for the meat. We still followed the recipe steps and just made our pork even more garlicky and flavorful. Start your 14-Day FREE trial now >>
We chose zucchini chips to serve as a side for the easy chicken cordon bleu recipe also on our meal plan. The chips were simple to make and involved dipping zucchini slices in milk and then into a parmesan cheese, breadcrumb mix. The chips are baked for 25 minutes, making them crispy and brown
We really liked the simple flavors of these zucchini chips and they made eating a veggie much more enjoyable. They would be a perfect vegetable for kids as they taste like cheesy, soft fries! Start your 14-Day FREE trial now >>
Chicken breast filets were cut in half and pounded until flat. Then, each chicken piece was seasoned with salt and pepper and dredges in flour. The chicken was sauteed in olive oil to brown the outside.
We topped the chicken with some mustard, a slice of ham, and a slice of swiss cheese. The chicken was then baked in the oven to melt the cheese over the ham and chicken. The dish was garnished with a few toasted panko breadcrumbs and the meal was ready to go!
It was a very easy dinner to make and a quick version of a classic dish. Our chicken was a little dry and a sauce would have been a good addition. Start your 14-Day FREE trial now >>
eMeals Recipe Review: Cheesy Wonton Wrapped Little Smokies Recipe
Mini cheese hot dogs were wrapped in a wonton wrapper along with some shredded mozzarella cheese. The little bundles were baked in the oven for 10 minutes to brown the wontons. The bite-sized snack was served with homemade ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise sauce.
We were excited to try this recipe but instead of receiving wonton wrapped in our grocery delivery, we got spring roll wrappers which are a little different. We still made the recipe, using the wrappers we got and the result was pretty good! The spring roll wrappers crisped nicely in the oven and the mini hot dogs were cheesy and delicious.
It was very easy to use the app while cooking and baking. The recipe directions were short and clear, making cooking very simple. All of the recipes we chose were fast to put together and made with basic ingredients. There were no crazy culinary tasks or complicated cooking processes. All of the recipes were very good, especially considering how easy they were. It definitely made dinner time quick and tasty! Start your 14-Day FREE trial now >>
eMeals Recipe Review: Bottom Line
eMeals is a new way to plan your dinners for the week and easily grocery shop for all the ingredients you will need to make those meals. It is super easy to find great recipes that you will love. All of the recipes are written clearly with easy-to-follow instructions.
We definitely liked the easy grocery shopping and delivery that this app offered. The way the app sent our grocery list right to Amazon Fresh and picked out each ingredient for us was pretty cool. Dinner planning was definitely easier after using this app since our meals were picked, recipes were easy to find and we knew we had all the ingredients on hand, ready to go.
We didn’t like that we got grocery substitutions that didn’t really match what we needed to make our recipes. However, this is a flaw of online ordering, not necessarily eMeals. We also aren’t huge fans of the monthly app price tag. The recipes on eMeals are pretty basic so the monthly cost pays more for the convenience of planning dinner in advance and streamlined grocery shopping rather than more complex, unique recipe ideas.
We did really enjoy how easy eMeals made meal planning and dinner time. We would recommend giving it a try and trying first hand the simplicity of picking meals and shopping through eMeals. With a two-week free trial, it is an app that any busy chef should try. Anyone who has a hard time thinking of dinner ideas each night or anyone who wishes grocery lists could be easier should use eMeals. It is quite a handy app! Start your 14-Day FREE trial now >>
