One of our favorite baking kits, and one that we will try next, is the Baketivity Posi-tivity Cookie Kit. This kit focuses on teaching kids about cultural diversity and equity and encourages conversations around inclusion and friendship through colorful cookies.

Our recipe had 15 steps with an optional icing with 2 steps.
The estimated creation time was 2 hours with 25 min to prep, 1 hour to rise, 25 min to bake, and 10 min to cool.
I was a little concerned with the 2 hour time estimate because my son would not want to bake for that long but then realized that you are only really actively baking for about 15-25 min with plenty of time to do the lesson and activity while the buns are rising, baking, and cooling.
The Baketivity Cinnamon Bun ingredients that were included in our kit were flour, sugar, vanilla sugar, dry yeast, dark brown sugar, and cinnamon mix (cinnamon, sugar, confectioner’s sugar, and vanilla sugar). We needed to supply 1 egg and oil. We also used butter versus oil in one of the steps as we felt it would give a richer flavor to the cinnamon buns.

The activity included with our Swirling Cinnamon Buns kit was called “Sticky Synonym Buns” and was all about synonyms.
This lesson was a good reinforcement of a concept that my son was already familiar with and could easily be taught to younger kids with ease.

I really enjoyed my time in the kitchen with my son baking the Baketivity Swirling Cinnamon Buns baking kit. My son was apprehensive going into the activity as he lacks confidence and experience in the kitchen, but by the end, when he was enjoying the fruits of his labor, he asked when could we do it again.
