Angels’ Cup Coffee Reviews

Angels’ Cup selects their coffee from the top 0.1% of roasters from around the world and offers light, medium, and dark roasts in their three subscription boxes.

Light roasts include maximum sweetness and complexity with flavors of fruits, flowers, desserts, nuts, and spices.

Medium roasts are sweet and decadent with underlying dessert flavor notes of caramel, gingerbread, chocolate, or vanilla.

Dark roasts are anti-acidity and extremely deep and dark. Flavors are reminiscent of meat on the grill, strong wood aromas, and toasted bread. Dark roasts have the widest range of tasting profiles and can be experienced in many different ways depending on how much milk or sugar you take.

We were really excited to try Angels’ Cup because I know nothing about coffee…like absolutely nothing. I regularly make store-brand coffee at home in my french press and use my espresso machine but don’t know anything about coffee roasts, origins, etc. Shop now>>

Blind Tasting Experience

1. To start the blind tasting, open the app and select “Start a Tasting.”
2. Add each brew to your tastings by entering its unique 5 digit code found on the info cards included in your box. In The Black Box, we received four samples, each labeled A, B, C, or D.
3. Record your brewing method. Start by recording your brewing technique (French Press/Chemex/AeroPress.) Track water temperature, grind, brew time, coffee, and water weight.
4. Rate the taste by ranking by strength and extraction.
5. Rate your overall enjoyment of your coffee tasting experience between 1 (poor) 10 (superb).
6. Add any final remarks and complete your tasting.
7. Reveal the name and origin of the roast. You can even “meet the roastmaster” and review how their tasting notes compare to your own!
8. Read other Angels’ Cup subscribers’ tasting notes and interact with the community.

While tasting each coffee sample I noticed a few details during brewing that I never noticed before making this conscious effort through Angels’ Cup. I learned that I lean towards a darker to medium roast. The light roast taste felt less like I was drinking coffee and more like drinking a strong cup of tea, for example. Shop now>>

In my dark to medium roast coffees, I look for rich and earthy flavors. I never quite knew what flavors I was looking for, though. After trying my samples and reading their info cards I’ve discovered characteristics I’ll look for the next time I buy coffee.

Using the app to track my experience was convenient but there are a few quirks and improvements that would help the user experience. Creating a new profile for anything always feels daunting and like a big commitment. Installing the option to login via other social/email accounts would streamline the transition between drinking the coffee and joining the Angels’ Cup community.

In addition, when recording your ‘Brew Method’ there are no drop-down options. You’ll have to record each weight, temperature, and time for each brew and remember them when you begin tracking. Also – the app uses grams as their standard measurement. I would have preferred seeing teaspoons/cups/ounces as options. Shop now>>

I really enjoyed the size of each sample. I could get at least 5 cups of coffee out of each bag giving me plenty of time to experiment and find the best brewing process.

The overall experience was enjoyable and educational! I learned a lot about the characteristics that make up coffee including flavor, origin, and brewing process. I tasted firsthand the differences between light, medium, and dark roasts and read about other coffee drinkers’ experiences with different brewing techniques that all resulted in different opinions.

In addition, using the Angels’ Cup app extended the coffee experience to the digital community while allowing me to connect with others and track my brewing experience. It’s amazing to see all of the things that go into making a good cup of coffee.  Shop now>>

Angels’ Cup Coffee Reviews: Bottom Line

angels-cup-black-box-reviews-experience

Angels’ Cup delivers high-quality coffee to subscribers while educating consumers on the vast world of coffee. You can join the Angels’ Cup community when you sign up for their app to track and share tasting experiences.

We loved the simple, cute packaging and process. You open a small box with clear directions right on the box and small info cards for each coffee sample. I like the digital community-building aspect. Using the App to track your blind tasting facilitates mindfulness and tracks your experience in a clear and concise way. No need to grab a pen or lose track of a tasting sheet.

And while the community aspect of Angels’ Cup was a fun activity and hobby, the app needs minor updates to enhance the user experience. Such as drop-down menus, metric options, and a back button.  In addition, for each sample, you were prompted to guess the origin of the roast. Since this was my first time I was super lost on what countries/regions could be possible answers. In the future, I think the guessing aspect can reflect your growing knowledge of coffee. For your first order, the simpler the question, the better. Then, as you expand your tastings the questions become more complex.

We would recommend Angels’ Cup to the coffee curious, coffee experts, and everyone in between.  And think that The Black Box would make a great gift!  The three subscription options provide tasting experiences and a warm welcoming into a coffee-drinking community. Send as a gift to your long distance friends and family. Buy for yourself to refresh your mornings. Add a twist of excitement and find a new hobby with Angels’ Cup coffee.  Shop now>>

Enjoy!
